India and Pakistan are nuclear states in South Asian and ¼ share of global population is living in this region. Both India and Pakistan are rival countries and reason of their rivalries varies due to different outstanding issues between two countries. Kashmir issue is the bone of contention between two countries which needs the attention of international community to pressurize India to stop its atrocities in Kashmir against innocent Kashmiri civilians. Despite the international calls for plebiscite in Kashmir as per the resolution of UNSC, India is using its belligerent policies to suppress the voices of the people of Kashmir.
Struggle of Kashmiri people against Indian resistance has entered into the final phases. Since the inception of Indian policies in J&K, political leader of Kashmir and masses, started denouncing Indian claims about J&K. They seem to be fed up with Indian policies and now they are staging agitations in various part of J&K. Kashmiri youth has awaken and is demanding their rights by using their legitimate and justified actions. Sense of inanity is prevailing in Kashmir due to the blunders of Indian forces. Indian youth has grown aware of their rights and they are now standing for their rights.
Situation in Kashmir is deteriorating day by day following the increase of Indian atrocities against civilians. Indian forces are using aggressive policies like use of force to suppress peaceful campaign for independence. People of J&K are fed up with the Indian policies and that’s why they have started attacking Indian troops and military installations in the valley. Violent incidents are increasing in Kashmir. It is very unfortunate that heighly qualified Kashmiri youth is joining freedom movement by joining various armed outfits. Last year a PHD scholar Manan Wani was gunned down by Indian forces during an anti-insurgency operations. Manan Wani was close ally of Burhan Wani. Yesterday a repressed Kashmiri national carried out a suicide attack on Indian security forces in Pulwama that killed dozens of soldiers. India historically has never missed any chance to blame Pakistan for such kind of attacks. India did the same and immediately blamed Pakistan based Jaish-e-Muhammad (JeM) for the attack. Indian media is completely toeing the propaganda of its government and immediately went onto blame Pakistan.
There are various reason for attack on Indian forces in Pulwama. Attack on the convoy of India forces in Kashmir is the result of anger of youth against the Indian oppression. Kashmiri politicians are calling for change in the policies of India. Whenever something positive in the bilateral ties of both countries is about to happen, something out of the ordinary takes place in India and all of the sudden that process is halted. Another reason of this terrorist attack could be to get political mileage as BJP is losing its grounds in various states in India.
Timing of this attack is very important. Indian right wing parties and their armed wings are not happy with the policies of their ally BJP. They are criticizing BJP’s polices especially towards Pakistan and Kashmir. As Lok Sabha elections are looming around, BJP is trying to get the support of right wing political parties to defeat congress. Indian government is passing slanderous remarks against Pakistan just to praise their extremist allies.
To blame Pakistan for any heinous terrorist act in Kashmir and India had been the pillar of India’s foreign policy towards Pakistan. Another possible outcome of this attack could be that India will approach UNSC to once again get JeM organization to be declared global terrorists organization. China is continuously blocking Indian move againt JeM to declare the organization as terrorist outfit. India will use this attack to proliferate its narrative against JeM.
Before the Lok Sabha elections in 2014, PM Modiused anti-Pakistan rhetoric to get the votes and ultimately succeeded. So, before Lok Sabha elections, such kind of attacks are expected. Another angle of this attack could be to undermine the visit of Saudi Crown Prince MBS to Pakistan before landing in India. New Delhi will surely take up this issue with MBS just to create propaganda against Pakistan based upon flimsy grounds. Even when there are some clear indication that this attack was carried out by native Kashmiri who wanted to avenge Burhan Wani’s martyrdom.
Another dimension of this attack could be to justify heavily guarded Indian military presence in Kashmir valley. As per reports, around 500,000 troops are present in Kashmir. Indian local politicians are calling for reduction of number of troops in Kashmir. Various international human rights watchdogs have clearly said that India is committing grave human rights violation in Kashmir by using pallet guns against innocent and helpless civilians. UNSCR in its report on human right violations in Kashmir said that India has committed severe war crimes in Kashmir. India used sophisticated weapons against civilians. However, India always maintains that its military deployment in the valley is legitimate and its forces are carrying out anti-terrorist operations.
Indian government had said earlier last year that there is no sign of IS in the valley. But, after various attacks and wall choking in Kashmir in favour of IS, Indian narrative has changed. India will try to justify that its forces are in Kashmir to eradicate IS from the valley and they are carrying out operations against IS. So, India has to do something positive to get the support of Kashmiri people. Belligerent policies cannot help India to accomplish its goals. Thus,India should talk to Pakistan to resolve Kashmir dispute so that both countries can work together to accomplish peace in this region. Dialogues – are the only viable solution, as warclearly not the solution of this issue. India should fulfil its commitment made by the then PM Nehru to conduct plebiscite under the supervision of UN. Pakistan is already doing its part to bring peace in this region, however, Indian polices are putting regional peace in jeopardy. India cannot win in Kashmir by using its military force therefore it can easily be inferred that peace cannot be achieved through belligerent and dubious intentions.
