Tribute To ASP Suhai Aziz: An Emblem of Feminine Strength

Not only the sons, but the daughters of Pakistan also know how to secure their land against the foreign planed terrorist attacks. This notion has been proved right by the way ASP Suhai Aziz secured the Chinese consulate in Karachi. The attack on Chinese consulate carried by the BLA has been valiantly countered by the Sindh Police under the command of ASP Suhai Aziz Talpur. She led the operation from the front and has set an example of bravery. On Friday, an attack on the Chinese consulate has been carried out by the three militants of BLA, which has been foiled by ASP Suhai Aziz along with the officials of Sindh Police. The attack has been carried out by the Balochistan based -RAW and NDS supported-separatist militant outfit named as BLA (BalochLiberation Army) in the backdrop of Chinese investment in Pakistan.

“When we wear this uniform we are trained…you won’t see fear in any police officer, I assure you.”

Chinese consulate in Karachi has been attacked by the three militants around 9:30 am. The attackers used the hand grenades and other material. They tried to open the armoured gate of the consulate by the C4 explosives, but they were shot dead before they could successfully open the gate and wreak havoc in the consulate. During the gun-and-grenade attack, two police men were martyred, while the three militants were killed in the exchange of fire. Moreover, two visa applicants –a father and a son- were also martyred by the terrorists. However, the police officials secured the area under the lead of ASP Suhai Aziz and fought the militants with a great valor. ASP Suhai has been applauded for her laudable and courageous effort across the country. She has become an emblem of strength and bravery. Her name has been recommended for prestigious Quaid-e-Azam Police Medal by IG Sindh Dr Kaleem Imam, making her the first woman police officer from Sindh to be recommended for this medal.

In addition to this, her heroic act has been praised by the IG Sindh Police and Sindh CM Murad Ali Shah. On the same hand, Shah Mehmood Qureshi -Foreign Minister of Pakistan- also commended ASP Suhai for her sterling service and said, “Pakistan is proud of all its brave daughters like SP Suhai Aziz. She was among the first to reach the Chinese Consulate and successfully lead the operation that thwarted the terrorist attack in Karachi today.” Furthermore, Senator Sherry Rehman alsotweeted: “In the middle of a hard day, Pakistan’s remarkable women rise to be the silver lining. So proud of Suhai Aziz, the woman, who fearlessly spearheaded the vanguard of the successful police operation against terrorists at Chinese consulate.” Similarly, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari -Chairman of PPP- also hailed the courageous service of ASP Suhai and the martyrs in his tweet.

With her exemplary audacity, ASP Suhai has challenged the stereotypical approach commonly held by the patriarchal society regarding woman. She has shown to the world that the women in Pakistan are not a burden but a national asset and they are as brave as their fellow men.

ASP Suhai is the first woman police officer from Lower Sindh. While talking to a media channel she said, This incident got highlighted, [but in reality] a police officer doesn’t even know a rickshaw [he’s passing by] might have a bomb in it. When we wear this uniform we are trained…you won’t see fear in any police officer, I assure you.” Likewise, she briefed Dawn about the security operation and stated, “Around 9am, I got the news that there was an attack at the Chinese consulate. I was already on my way to work so we redirected and rushed to the crime scene. I already had my guards with me, senior officers were on their way. In the meantime we gathered the bomb disposal squad and fire brigade as well.” She further said, “All the credit for today’s success goes to the jawans who lost their lives. They are the real heroes…they kept the militants engaged while we got there.” With her exemplary audacity, ASP Suhai has challenged the stereotypical approach commonly held by the patriarchal society regarding woman. She has shown to the world that the women in Pakistan are not a burden but a national asset and they are as brave as their fellow men.
