A murder investigation has begun after a 20-year-old man was shot dead in Birmingham.
West Midlands Police said they were called to South Holme, near Garrison Lane in the Bordesley area of the city just after midnight.
The force added that “despite the efforts of the attending medical staff, a 20-year-old man was sadly declared dead at the scene”.
A cordon was put up along South Holme and Garrison Lane as “forensic examinations take place”.
DI Jim Colclough, from the force’s homicide team, said: “We are in the very early stages of this investigation where a young man has tragically lost his life.
“We are in the process of piecing together what has happened and I would urge anyone who has any information at all to call me or my team on 101”.
