Police Officer Injured During Dramatic Subiaco Arrest

A police officer has received minor injuries after being trapped in a fleeing car during a dramatic arrest in Subiaco this morning.

Police say they responded to a report of two people acting suspiciously in a vehicle stopped on May Avenue at about 11.45am.

They arrived to find a woman inside the Holden Astra and a man standing next to it.

The man allegedly became involved in scuffle with the officers before getting into the vehicle and driving off.

A police officer who had leaned inside car’s passenger door became stuck in the vehicle as it accelerated down Hay Street.

The car spun 180 degrees after being forced to stop by another police vehicle a short time later.

A witnesses, who only wanted to be identified as Nigel, described the scenes to Seven News.

“He (the officer) was certainly hanging out the car,” he said.

“(It) must have been his legs and waist that were hanging out the door.”

Another witness, Cameron, said: “The car had done a full 180 with the hand brake on and the cop was trying to get inside the passenger door with a baton”.

A man and a woman, both covered in pepper spray, were pulled from the car by police and arrested. No charges have been laid.

Two officers suffered minor injuries during the incident.
