An Uber driver was allegedly punched up to 15 times by an angry passenger while he was ‘just doing his job’.
A 34-year-old man picked up two men and a woman outside a hotel in Mundurah, south of Perth on Sunday at 2pm.
He drove him just a short distance when one man allegedly punched him in the back of the head, causing cuts and bruises.
His eyes were also split open in the alleged attack, which occurred after the 35-year-old picked up three angry passengers.
The furious Uber customers ‘lashed out’ when he refused to stop at a McDonald’s Drive through, Nine News reported.
‘I thought I was going to die,’ he told the network.
The man said one of the women was so frightened she said ‘don’t kill him, he’s going to get killed’.
‘I was totally blacked out, I closed my eyes, and every punch he was giving me, was like a thunderstorm.’
The man ran from his own car to escape the horrifying ordeal.
A 25-year-old Lakelands man has been charged with assault occasioning bodily harm and is due to appear in the Mandurah Magistrates Court in April.
