A train passenger committed suicide at Sydney’s central station today, causing peak-hour chaos across the city.

Services on three lines were cancelled or delayed after the fatality at 12pm.

Pictures from central station showed commuters several rows deep waiting for their trains home after work.

Sydney Trains confirmed services on the Western, Northern line and Eastern Suburbs and Illawarra were cancelled or delayed due to the incident.

The operator also announced their real-time app was not updating due a technical issue.

New South Wales Police told Daily Australia it was a self harm incident and refused to comment further.

It is believed the passenger was a woman.
