A huge spider spotted clinging to a branch above floodwaters in north Queensland has been rescued.
Video shared by Andrea Gofton shows the eight-legged freak trying to stay high and dry outside a SPAR Supermarket in the town of Halifax, northeast of Ingham, today.
The area has been inundated by heavy rain over the past four days, with more than 400 millimetres falling.
9NEWS understands the spider has since been rescued from the branch.
Video shows the spider being carried – branch and all – away from the floodwaters.
It was then placed on an avocado tree near a pharmacy, Andrea Gofton wrote on the ‘FLOODS March 2018 Ingham and surrounding areas’ Facebook page.
The arachnid is believed to be a Whistling Spider, so named for the hissing sound it makes.
