A Perth man has claimed he bit into a slider on Australia Day at a city pub and ended up sinking his teeth into a mouse.
Bruce Blackburn alleges he was eating at the Civic Hotel in Inglewood when he made the sickening find.
“I ordered three sliders and chips – just a small burger as they are,” Mr Blackburn told 9 News Perth.
“I took a couple of bites of the first one and it was fine. And then the third one I couldn’t actually bite it.
“And I realised there was a full-fledged hairy mouse in the meat patty.
“My reaction was to drop it straight away and feel sick, to be honest.”
The claims about the mouse-slider originally surfaced on Facebook on Friday and Mr Blackburn alleges the mouse was about the third of the size of a patty.
He told 9 News Perth that the pub had refunded his money but not given him an apology.
When contacted on Saturday afternoon, the Civic declined to make any comment.
Social media users were quick to query the alleged “find” and how it could possibly have got there.
“No way in the world that went unnoticed when the salad was placed on the buns,” one commented.
“No chef would miss an entire mouse in his salad,” another noted.
“A mouse doesn’t crawl into a saucepan, cook itself, then go lie in a burger bun,” said another.
But another poster insisted Mr Blackburn’s claims were true.
“There were only six of us at the table. Bruce definitely had a mouse in hone of his slider burgers.”
