A Perth cricketer accused of rape has pleaded not guilty in the UK.

Alex Hepburn has appeared in Worcester Crown Court to deny two counts of rape relating to an alleged incident at his home in the UK in April last year.

The 21-year-old has been suspended by the Worcestershire County Cricket Club since the allegations surfaced.

Hepburn was raised in Perth and attended Aquinas College before moving to the UK in 2013 to pursue a cricket career.

The all-rounder from Canning Vale, who made his elite-level debut for Worcestershire in 2015, has played grade cricket for Willetton District Cricket Club.

A judge has set a trial date for early 2019 and Hepburn has been granted unconditional bail.
