Perth Speed Camera Operator Threatened with Rock in Kewdale

A speed camera operator in Perth has allegedly been threatened after he detected a car travelling 15km/h over the speed limit.

The officer was parked on Gabriel Street, near Knutsford Avenue, in Kewdale on Sunday just before 8.30pm when he spotted the car travelling at 65km/h in a 50km/h zone.

It is alleged the car returned a short time later and a man demanded the image be deleted, but left before police arrived.

The man returned again about 20 minutes later armed with a large rock and demanded the officer exit the vehicle, but police arrived to arrest him as he tried to run away.

A 46-year-old Cloverdale man has been charged with threats to injure or harm a person and being armed in a way that may cause fear.
