A 10-year-old boy has escaped through a window after two balaclava-wearing men armed with guns forced their way into a NSW home in what police believe was a “targeted” attack.
The men, who were also wearing gloves, broke down the door of the home in Thirroul about 5.30am on Tuesday, police said in a statement.
They confronted a 45-year-old man and a 47-year-old woman who were at home with the 10-year-old before the intruders “ransacked” the house.
The woman and boy managed to escape through a window to a neighbour’s house while the male occupant barricaded himself in a room.
Detectives believe the incident was a targeted attack and say the victims from the house “are not assisting police”.
