Two men have been arrested and one remains on the run, after a man was allegedly attacked with a chainsaw in Sydney’s inner west.
A 63-year-old man remains in Royal Prince Alfred Hospital and is being treated for lacerations to his head and bruising after the incident.
The man and his wife were at their apartment on Albion Lane in Annandale about 5.30pm on Monday when three men walked through the open front door, police said.
The couple asked the men what they were doing and there was a scuffle, according to police, and the man who lived at the apartment chased the three other men downstairs and into a laneway.
Police said one of the intruders ran into a garage and grabbed a chainsaw, then allegedly assaulted the resident before the three men ran away.
Leichhardt police arrested two men about 6pm in a nearby hotel, and they were taken to Newtown Police Station. Officers are still searching for a third man
A 21-year-old man was charged with using an offensive weapon with intent to commit indictable offence, assault occasioning actual bodily harm in company, aggravated enter dwelling with intent and common assault.
A 20-year-old man was charged with aggravated enter dwelling with intent and common assault.
The two men were refused bail and are due to appear in Newtown Local Court on Tuesday.
