Sydney Thunder Post Record Score in Win Over Melbourne Renegades

Sydney Thunder have posted a record Women’s Big Bash League score and survived a spirited run chase to beat Melbourne Renegades by 11 runs in a thrilling start to the new season at North Sydney Oval.

The Thunder, who were sent into bat, blasted 6/200 with Rachael Haynes (55 of 41) and Naomi Stalenberg (38 off 25) Nicola Carey (47 off 17) and Rene Farrell (25 off 13) helping the home side recover from 4/41.

Jess Duffin (81 off 47 balls) and Chamari Atapautu (42 off 30) had the Renegades on course for victory until the former was out to a catch confirmed by the third umpire.
